Co-creating healthy societies through the WHO Youth Council

Since the WHO Youth Council’s inception in 2021, DTH-Lab has been an active member – sharing technical advice and governance related to the digital transformation of health.

DTH-Lab plays an integral role in the WHO Youth Council. As an inaugural member currently in our second term, DTH-Lab has actively supported the collective efforts of the Youth Council by contributing to the World Health Organization’s mission and bringing fresh perspectives and innovative approaches to address some of the most pressing health challenges.

As one of few organizations focused on the direct and indirect ways digital is impacting the health and well-being of young people, DTH-Lab offers technical advice on governance approaches related to the digital transformation of health. Three Regional Youth Champions support the activities of the current working groups and our Youth Engagement Coordinator is the Lab’s focal point to the Youth Council.

On 14th October 2024, the WHO Youth Council launched its Declaration on Creating Healthy Societies at the World Health Summit in Berlin, outlining ten calls to action across three priority areas that require the collective efforts of stakeholders, including youth, to co-create healthy societies grounded in well-being, resilience and trust. As a WHO Youth Council member, DTH-Lab led the drafting and delivery of the declaration, playing a pivotal role in making this vision of a youth-authored declaration a reality.
