Digital governance

Creating a value-based framework for governing health futures
Digital and data‑led transformations pose a set of novel opportunities and challenges for health. Allowing digital spaces, platforms and technologies to go ungoverned risks undermining health equity and human rights. Digital technologies, including AI, will only advance young people’s health and well‑being if their design and implementation are grounded in Health for All values – such as democracy, equity, solidarity, inclusion and human rights.
DTH-Lab regularly monitors and inputs into national, regional and global policy processes related to digital health and the broader governance of digital platforms and AI. We aim to bridge the divide between discussions on digital health and broader digital governance so that transformations within and beyond the health sector all contribute to better health futures for all and support the achievement of universal health coverage by 2030. Our analysis of existing strategies and governance approaches seeks to identify concrete areas where governments, technology companies and other actors can promote young people’s health and well-being and increase the meaningful involvement of young people in governance mechanisms.
