The Lancet Series on digital determinants of health

DTH-Lab coordinated a landmark Series for
The Lancet which proposes a new approach for conceptualizing and responding to the digital determinants of health – setting a bold agenda for future research, practice and governance.

The Lancet Series on the digital determinants of health, builds on work that DTH-Lab has been advancing over the past five years, bringing together evidence on how digital environments are shaping health and what stronger public health action could look like.

Coordinated by DTH-Lab, the three-paper Series authored by 13 global experts, outlines how the impact of digital technologies on health is a product of business models, design choices and weak governance. And that the digital determinants must be made a global public health priority.

The Series was edited by Ben Abbott, Lancet Executive Editor, chaired by Ilona Kickbusch, Director DTH-Lab, and coordinated by Louise Holly, Research & Policy Coordinator DTH-Lab.

The authors are Rohinton Medhora (McGill University), Alec Morton (National University of Singapore), Falk Müller-Riemenschneider (National University of Singapore), Natarajan Padmapriya (National University of Singapore), Barbara Prainsack (University of Vienna), Rebecca Raeside (University of Sydney), Abril Saldaña-Tejeda (University of Guanajuato), Jay Shaw (University of Toronto), Jovin Shi (National University of Singapore), Caesar Atuire (University of Oxford), Nicole Gross (National College of Ireland).

The Series had input from a Youth Advisory Group of six young adults aged 23-30 years who discussed with the authors what the research couldn't identify about lived experience. The advisors were: Leonardo Bolstad, Salman Khan, Erza Selmani, Maryam Sherif, Oluwapelumi Solgade and Yifan Zhou.
